How long do you think it takes to develop and design a building? I hope you don't think it suppose to happen in the same year the lot was purchased...

The Dallas building will be nothing like the Burj Khalifa.. The design doesn't make any sense economically. It's a status symbol. Nothing more.. Nothing less. I don't see someone building something as stupid as the Burj here in the US.
I didnt say it would look like the burj Khalifa....I referenced that building because of how small the floor plates get as you get closer to the top...

By no means is Dallas getting a building similar to this...My point was that the 1.5million sq ft could be configured alot of ways to make the building reach over 1000 feet tall....And.....the 1.5 million sq ft. number is only for office. This is a mixed use building so add 100 more feet to what ever height the office portion is for a hotel...oh and another 50 feet for the residential portion so:

*950 ft tall for the office portion
*100 ft for the hotel
*50 ft for the residential
*50 ft for the spire and observation deck
--------=
1150 ft. building

The article above is a few years old. The DFW area will hit 7 million any time now.

Positive and negative attitudes are infectious. Why not focus on the positive? If something is broken, fix it! If something is good, make it better!
This is very true. Dallas has no reason to exist, yet does anyway. This is why Houston has way more substance and soul than Dallas. It has a purpose...

They were probably talking about this one across from the current one being discussed:

Even the Texas threads are bigger. 8 years and over a thousand pages long. Must be a CD record.
