Isn't DFW bigger than Houston?

Yes....but DART serves the Dallas side and The T serves the Ft.Worth side.....Two Transit systems for Two cities. Houston Metro is the only trasit network in the greater Houston area......which still has more buses than BOTH transit networks COMBINED in DFW.

Having a1000+ bus fleet in a city with 1,000,000 MORE people SHOULD have an overall higher ridership than DART.
The bus is the ONLY option of transportation in 80 or 90% of the entire Houston area........late unreliable BUSES EVERYWHERE!!!

let me dumb this down for you........

Dallas train system represents a todler playing in his dads size 12 shoes. Eventually Dallas will grow up and into them. They will fit perfectly.

Houston train system represents the dad goofing off trying to put on his todlers size 2 walking shoes. Only the big toe fits so trains are always crowded. ...because Houston is too big of a city(dad),to have a train system that small...or to be trying on a todler's shoe.

Maybe so. But Dallas bus ridership number is embarrassingly low. Even Milwaukee and San Antonio has a higher bus ridership than Dallas.

uhh.....so what....who cares about buses?
And the only reason Dallas' bus ridership is lower is because Most of the people who would normally catch and crowd the bus can now just hop on a train.....which makes some bus rides and routes obsolete. In those other cities you mentioned you cant do that....not even in Houston

So if a person likes waiting on late buses packed with people all the time...Houston is the place for you.

Uh that's why I said mass transit as a whole. There are other forms of mass transit, if you didn't know that. I can understand why somebody from Dallas would like to believe otherwise. Because outside of rail, it's pretty bad. And yes, you could do that in Houston. The rail took a popular bus line away with high ridership.

Sad as this may be to say, in the South, cities with high ridership numbers on public transit tend to have more poverty. Just a fact. Doesn't bother me one bit that Dallas has low ridership numbers on its bus system.

So southern (Texas) cities should build comprehensive transit systems that nobody rides because they are too affluent ?

You've never used any of those Park and rides ? Me either, but I hear they are timely and use the HOV lanes to cut through a lot of gridlock. Does Dallas not have any Park and Rides ?
