Its also true that Dallas went blue by a large percentage in the general election. If that does not speak volumes about a city what does. Dallas is a diverse city and does have its problems with diversity but Houston also have similar problems.

I do not believe that Dallas is as diverse or multicultural as Houston but I think it's diversity is very underrated. The white population is 54% now but expect that to be closer to 50% by 2010 and probably under a few MONTHS after that.

Dallas went blue because of the large Hispanic & Black populations.

Dallas is diverse, but not close to Houston's diversity. For the metro, Houston is at 43% (for its Caucasian population), while Dallas is at 54%.

I like Dallas b/c you can actually drive from one place to another without it taking 5 hours. Oh, and less roaches/fleas/ticks and humidity. Also town more easily identifiably split into nice parts of town and not-so-nice parts of town.

Now that's a lie. Dallas traffic is not much better than Houston traffic at all. For example, 360 and 75N are guaranteed to be a pain. I had more bugs in my house in Dallas than I did in Houston, though we had more roaches in Houston. I guess that's what you get by living near trees and not prairie-land.

Houston has a much better planned highway system than Dallas and I think commutes are shorter(Unless coming from suburbs).Houston has more alternate ways of traveling around the city than Dallas[Talking highways/short-cuts not public transit].

And there's your big, fat, hairy problem. People often live in the suburbs b/c they have to work in the city the suburb is near. I don't know anyone here with as horrendous commute as my Houston friends, and a lot of my pals take the light rail. My inner loop Houston buddies fare a little better, but my downtown Dallas pals walk to and from work.

You don't think people who live in Downtown Houston walk to work? A lot of the people near my in Houston take Metro's Park and Ride. If it were a commuter rail system, it'd be one of the busiest in the South, if not America. The I-10W Park and Ride alone gets around 15,000 riders a day.
