3. Dallas also have residential buildings in downtown. We are converting abandoned building and vacant spaces into apartments instead of spending a lot of money on some new skyscrapers.

Heh.. You should consider that first suggestion yourself..

2. Again , this is a vs thread. Downtown Houston is quickly shooting past downtown Dallas, and the new development was worth mentioning.

3. Yes y'all do. That's because your CBD has one of the highest vacancy rates in the country.. Almost 30%...

4. Sorry you don't think quality of life is important and only care about bashing other cities on an Internet forum..

i dont see Dallas dropping 150 million dollars on park renovations..
150 million dollars was invested in Downtown Dallas Parks...

thats awesome for downtown Dallas.. but Klyde Warren alone sucked up over 100 million, and a lot of that was spent on engineering/structural supports. Houston dropped 180 mil on Discovery Green (granted some of that was spent on engineering/structural work for the underground parking garage), recently completed a multi million dollar renovation to Market Square Park, and is spending millions on renovations to historic structures at Allens Landing and redeveloping park land along the bayou to turn those areas into a more engaging pedestrian location to hang out and exercise. both cities are making huge progress towards bettering their downtown and creating a more livable urban district/"neighborhood". Houston just seems to be progressing faster.

To summarize what he said

"Warren park is cheap. The city spend tax payer's money on discovery green. We turned our "historic" buildings into something we like to brag about. We are going to turn a refinery town into a pedestrian friendly place. It's gonna be awesome, exercising and oil pollution will help our medical city grow!

Who said it was 30% vacancy? Look, if you want to "learn" the statistics and geography of Dallas, please do not rely on houston media like KHOU or sunny 99.1

You keep forgetting that Dallas has BEEN doing this downtown ....It's fabulous that Houston is JUST STARTING to think about its residents and what's important for a desirable urban environment DOWNTOWN. But you already knew this....Thats why you are so excited because you see a change that you've been praying for.......Is Houston on the right path??...YES! ......Is Houston Shooting past Dallas in urban planning and development???.....Hell NO!!...the urban environment in Dallas is better. ......and pedestrian friendly

Houston is starting to prove that it wants a better urban environment. But you shouldn't forget that Dallas is on fire too...and its just starting.

its pretty common knowledge that the class A office vacancy in downtown Houston is/was recently around 6%.. its also pretty common knowledge that the office vacancy rate in downtown Dallas was over 30% not too long ago.

ok, so according to this article downtown Houstons class A vacancy rate is now around 8%. makes sense because a few leases expired last year.
