But over all, it is very good.

I can probably consider their dinner specials, too, James. Looks like it might be a better choice if freshness is what matters most.

The best one was in Karnack (near Jefferson) called Big Pines Lodge. Unfornately it burned last year. Another good one is Stacey's Fish Fry in Miller Grove. It is open on Fri. & Sat. evening and is cash only for all you can eat. Address is 7565 FM 275 S Miller Grove, TX, and is near Cumby off of I-30.

If you are ever near Athens, the Marina restaurant on Lake Athens serves probably the best I've ever eaten. Flyin' Fish in Garland at Firewheel Mall is pretty good, too.. Used to eat at Catfish Corner in Seven Points, but I don't think it's still there. They had a place in Mesquite years ago too that was excellent. Sadly, it's long gone. Miller's Grove on a Saturday night is well worth the drive.

David Beard's Catfish King in Longview was always a favorite for us. (Not saying it is the "best" David Beard's - just that we lived in Longview at the time!!)

Now here is a favorite of folks in the Austin County/Colorado County area - the Lenten Friday night catfish fries at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg (near Columbus).

Though the population of Frelsburg runs only about 75 (according to the Handbook of Texas online it was 75 in 1933 and 75 in 2000!), nevertheless you will find many more than that enjoying the catfish buffet on Friday nights. (Many of us Protestants dig in along with our Catholic friends.)

Make sure you save room for one of the homemade desserts! Here are some pics of the church:

I'm sure it sounds good.

Unfortunately, on this thread, it doesn't count.
