In Tennessee, Buddy-A bought a 20' enclosed trailer and used it for a while. He sold it to Buddy-B then he sold it to Buddy-C. Buddy-C then sold it to Buddy-M who lives in Mississippi and needs to register the trailer. Buddies-A, -B, and -C did not register in TN or exchange Bill of Sales. What does Buddy-M need to properly register the trailer in MS?

Thanks

According to this page, you are only required to register a trailer if it is over 5000-lb GVW, which requires a pretty hefty trailer. Other places say all trailers must be tagged. One place says that you would only need proof of ownership such as a bill-of-sale.

Honestly, your best bet would be to call the Mississippi DOR or DMV and explain your situation. You may also try posting this question in the Mississippi forum.

I have a trailer that I brought from another state. It was not registered nor titled. I would like to sell it to an individual that wants to use it commercially. What do I need to do?

Again, call the DMV in your state. I'm assuming Tennessee, unlike the OP.
