Yeah congrats to Phelps, I myself had no dobut he'd do it in the last race, good to see our boys finish 5th but once again congrats to Phelps, its ganna be interesting to see how much more swimming has advanced in London 2012.
I never doubted him for a second he said in his conference interview today he wants to swim other events that he has never done so in the next Olympics it could be 9 golds or more lol, he also said he had around 40 drug tests since the build up to and during the Olympics I'm not surprised he has to eat 12000 cals a day.
Yes, it was awesome. I don't think anyone will surpass 8 gold medals in a single Olympics; at least not in our lifetime. There are plenty of great articles I read on espn.com, such as: How can one not be won over by Phelps' feat?
I'm glad for him too but I was very disappointed that in the last Gold Medal presentation to the medley TEAM that won the gold they only focused on Phelps. There were 3 other swimmers there and while Phelps recognized their contribution to his achievement the camera didn't even swing over them while the anthem played.
That man is amazing! I so enjoyed watching him last week even if I am totally behind on my sleep b/c of it! 8 gold medals and 7 world records and he's only 23! Man, I can't imagine anything like that! Thanks for making the Olympics exciting, Michael! You da man!
Of course, I think the LZR Racer had something to do with all the records that fell (not just Phelp's but all the athletes that wore that suit) but that was to be expected. Anytime there's a technological development (Speedo's FASTSKIN in the last Olympics, the track at the Birdsnest), you're going to see WR fall.
