Danny Gallivan, Dan Kelly, Mike Lang ("He's smiling like a butcher's dog!") and Foster Hewitt in hockey.
Dave Van Horne, Vin Scully, Tom Cheek and Jack Buck doing baseball play-by-play. Duke Snider and Early Wynn ("It's the top of the filth with one out.") for colour.
I'm a newcomer to basketball but loved Chuck Swirsky when with the Raps. Now Bulls' fans get to enjoy him.
Right now for baseball I have to say Bob Uecker, Gary Thorne, and Vin Scully. For football it's definitely Al Michaels, Greg Gumbel, Kevin Harlan, Marv Albert, John Madden, Wayne Larrivee, Jim Nantz, Gus Johnson, Dan Dierdorf, Cris Collinsworth, Larry McCarren, and Kenny Albert.
Vin is at the top of my list, and I'm not even a Dodgers fan. I already watch him as much as I can via Extra Innings, and plan to do so next year as it sounds like it'll be his last year.
I will listen to Dick Enberg, Al Michaels or Jim Nantz call just about anything. I like Wayne Larrivee a lot, other than that he broadcasts for the Packers.
As a lifelong Cubs fan, Harry Caray is a sentimental favorite. Jack Buck is as well since I listened to him and Hank Stram call Monday Night Football even more than Michaels and co. growing up in the Eastern Time Zone.
Let me not forget the voice of Black College sports, Mr. Charlie Neal! (that was, before BET decided to cut there sports division!). Also heard during the early days of TNT and TBS!
Yeah.. I liked Summerall & Madden a lot when they were calling NFC games on CBS (circa late 80s & early 90s). Same era, CBS had (former Eagle) Irv Cross down on the sidelines.. he was cool.
At some point CBS lost NFC (and Pat & John Madden) to Fox, right.. but not sure what subsequently happened to Cross (?)
