You seriously think English teams take Europa League serious? A few teams do but most see it as a burden.

Perhaps the teams at the top who are still alive in the league title race would find it a burden. But that is related to only 2 or 3 teams a year. For a team like Fulham, when they played Atletico Madrid in the final a few years back, certainly cared. Especially when they had nothing else to really play for, apart from staying out of relegation. The League Cup is meaningless. The FA Cup has been diminished as European competitions, namely the Champions League, has shifted the focus of the top teams in England each year.

I'm surprised the English football association hasn't taken any action in removing the League Cup, it's meaningless. Just a waste of time. I'm pretty sure its ratings every year are low.

It doesn't have the same prestige as the league and FA Cup but it is still something that most fans in the UK like to win, its certainly not viewed here any worse than the Europa cup league thingy.

Hopefully people take the Europa League seriously now with the winners getting a Champions League slot the following season.

It will help, still both the League Cup & Europa cup league thingy are both better than winning nothing (I say this as my teams last two trophy successes were these two competitions! :-))

When Celtic and Rangers got to the Uefa cup final in the 2000s I think I am right in saying they were the two biggest away supports in history.

Spurs fielded many starters against Fiorentina, although in reality both weren't fielding their starting XI. Liverpool lost to Besiktas while playing with all of their starters and was knocked out by Basel in the Champions League. Arsenal lost to a team that's 4th in France and conceded 3 goals at home to team which struggled to score before asnd exclusively relied on their defense. Everton certainly put quite a bit of effort into Europa League as they had no chance to do anything worthwhile in the EPL given how low they are on the table.

The truth is that English teams are behind, even though only slightly, their Spanish and German peers almost from top to bottom

I think it's an underrated cup, one i actually enjoy watching more as a neutral than the the Champions League, it needs to be given more credit, only since we lost the 3rd place in the UEFA rankings Italian teams started taking it seriously and this year for the first time in many years all our teams made it to the round of 16 of every European competition.

There are only 3 teams in Europe stronger than Chelsea imo, PSG got a result - but you can't judge on one tie. And Liverpool never took the Europa league seriously and never fielded their starting 11. Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson their two best players never played lol. No Sakho or Johnson either, plus Markovic suspended. Fulton, Williams, brannagan, lussey and Sinclair included in a youthful squad. Even Kolo Toure got a game.
