I'm shocked at how many of you there are... I thought just about everyone was a transplant! And no, I'm not from Seattle, originally. But on the bright side, at least I'm not from CA... Sorry for invading (the thread and your state).

What all 5 of them? I thought for sure there were more natives on here.

Yes. Of the group of 10 people I work closely with, only 2 were born in this area. Of my close friends, less than 1/2 are from here originally. Maybe it's just me... I dunno.

Well, my family is native to the area. My sister and brother were born there, my mom and dad lived there before I was born. I was born in Virginia (army brat) but we came back there every.single.summer of my life, lived there as an adult for 10 years - still have my brother, aunt, in-laws and cousins in the area. My grandparents died there.... so not "native" but not exactly a transplant either.

Default 5th generation Washingtonian

I was born in Spokane but my parents moved to Bellevue when I was 3 months old so I figure I can call myself a "native" - I was raised in Bellevue and after high school, I went to UW. Moved in for freshman year and spent the next 20 years northwest of the ship canal until 2 years ago when my husband and I left the city and moved to Bothell. I am still adjusting to the suburbs!

My husband was born at Northwest hospital and has never left the greater Seattle area. We are both 41.

My mother's family has roots in this state all the way back to before it was a state. One branch of her family settled on an Oregon Donation Land Claim in 1853 in what is now southern WA. My dad's side of the family has traceable roots in Seattle back to 1910 (in Ballard) and his direct descendants still own a business there.

Believe it or not - most of our friends are natives too. Course, most of our friends are either college or high school friends so that makes more sense, I guess. However, the vast majority of people we meet, work with, or that our kids go to school with all seem to be transplants.

You can always tell the natives. They rust, not tan...Webbed feet...Moss growing on their backs.

LOL Go down to the Ballard Market any day. It's practically 100% locals!

You can't partake in this. You don't live there anymore!
