So I'm not a tall person, 5'6" to be exact. And I have short legs too. A 28" inseam to be exact.

I'm just wondering, where do other short men like me go shopping for pants? I hate shopping. So I don't want to waste anymore time like I did today trying to go on a futile effort (it seems they stopped making anything smaller than a 30 inch inseam). Further, I don't want to have destroyed cuffs after three months or have to waste more money on getting them altered.

I used to just cut off pants that were the wrong length. If ultra-fussy, I could rehem them.

wow.. 28 inseam is pretty hard to get. I'm also 5'6 male, but my inseam is 30, so most places start off around there, sometimes they have 28, 29. I ususally just go to macys, wal mart, target, etc. it really depends on what I buy it for (work, for fun, outdoors, etc).

Very cool that Land's End does custom inseams!

And I learned that some places offer to re-hem the pants for free, and many retailers have it online.

Finally, after I posted this thread, I looked at the bottom of peoples' pants and it appears that most people have the cuffs end at roughly just below the ankle. So maybe I'm over-thinking this.

I know Nordstrom will hem pants for you. Also, my stepdad has a similar issue, his inseam is 29, and my mom has been known to buy his pants in the boys' section.

Default levis

If you have anyone cut the legs for you , perhaps you should check to see
what the rise is also and if they alter that to match.
What I was told from Lands End was that sure they do custom, but ,
they don't change the rise of the pants to match to new leg length.
A short guy with a 12 inch rise and the crotch will hang down to your knees.
I found that other places will cut the legs for you but also not alter the rise to match
So , you will stll have that sagging rear look.
I get the Levis 514 ( I favor cords) from thier website.
They have a short rise, so even with short legs they look pretty good.

I found this if you don't know what "rise" is.

"The "rise" of a jeans is determined by the distance between the crotch up the zipper to the button at the waist. The rise is usually around 12 inches on regular pants. In comparison, the average measurement of low-rise jeans is roughly 8 inches, with some as little as 3-4 inches. They are intended to sit about 3 inches below the belly button.Low rise jeans are also called lowcut jeans, hipsters, hip-huggers and lowriders jeans are very popular today. "

Default levis

Just checked Levis website.
They used to post the rise for the 514s on the website, but for some reason they no longer do.
The 514s have a rise of 9 3/4 inches.
Hope this helps
