My husband and I are coming out there in early april. He used to be stationed at camp pendleton and I visiting him once for a weekend. We saw dana point and few other areas. Are there any places to go that many ppl don't know about? siteseeing or hiking? We love the beach but would also like to go out east to mountains. Any ideas?

i use to live in san clemente and my boyfriend and i stayed at warner springs ranch. Not alot of people know about it... i didn't and i lived in southern california for half my life! I am not sure what you want to do but if your looking for a nice weekend this place is pretty nice. They have hot springs, you can ride a biplane ( thats why we went), horseback riding... there is not much in the town but the ranch was nice to stay at for a quiet weekend especially since you get your own "casita". and something a little different that the beach.

Depending on how long you will be visiting, you might consider Catalina Island for a weekend. You can catch the ferry out of Dana Point. For mountains, you might want to consider a hike of Palomar Mountain and a trip to Julien. Julien is known for it's apples in the fall but it's still a quaint little town to visit. Also consider Fallbrook - Avocado capital of the world.

You could also go to San Diego Entertainment Guide at SignOnSanDiego.com to see what is going on in the area while you are visiting.
