I just got a Part Time job offer in Oceanside, which I accepted. Although I am temporarily living in Down Town SD. I was wondering would the commute be worth it? SD to Oceanside? I'd be willing to move up, but I am more familiar with SD (went to school here). The job is PT, in the afternoons, like 1-6 (on an as-need basis -anywhere from 2 - 20 hrs/wk-, with potential to become FT), I am not too worried about getting there, but getting back I am. My housing in SD is until the new year, so I could move whenever/wherever basically. I took this job because I'd had no luck until now (just graduated). Also if it'd help, I'd plan to take courses or volunteer during the time I'd not be working.

Is the Coaster commuter train an option for you?

Yes, that'd be fine though it'd be getting to work from there. Also the time commitment. I took it today and it was fine, because I had all the time in the world, but I am thinking if say I work at 1 in Oceanside, I might have to leave SD by 9a so I couldn't do stuff in the AM, whereas driving I'd need to leave by noon or 11 and could do stuff in the AM.

Yea, the Coasters cheaper (didn't throughly look today, and had to take amtrak back cuz the coaster didn't run until 2:30, & I was ready to go back by noon). Just though again, it's time.

It sounds like you will be traveling mostly during non-rush-hour times, so it should be OK. Any possibility that you can travel with a bicycle, for getting to/from either end of the Coaster or Amtrak?

Wait, it would take you 4 hours to get to work via the coaster? If you live downtown it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to get to the train, and the ride is only a little mors thaN half an hour. Where do the other three hours come in?

I don't know where I was looking at the times, haha. Yea, bike is an option. Though the job ends in the evening, so it may be dark by then.

Yeah, no, not even close. More like 30 minutes. Trust me, I've traveled that route more times than I can count.

I mean, unless there's some crazy delay....
