Yeah I never could figure out why people call it Clantee. Santee is a very nice area in my opinion. Constantly growing and fast!

Let's not forget S of the 8. It's not like racism is subject to E County and white people.

(in reference to the Lakeside comments) I've lived in Lakeside my entire life, and I can honestly say that I have yet to meet someone who is a "skinhead".
The people I DO know are the most accepting, intelligent, kindest people you'll ever meet. I am not saying there isn't any racism at all, but the people who you are describing live in a VERY small area in central Lakeside. It's not right to generalize the entire place.
(as a side-note, an african-american guy won prom King for a high school in Lakeside, which just goes to show you...)
Please don't judge a place if you've never been there.

I read this thread and had to respond. I am latino and grew up in Poway and I definitely agree with some of the statements here about the subtle and quiet racism. This is especially detrimental to kids growing up here as the racial tensions tends to lead to a self-fulfilling prophesy ala the "super ghetto black guy". Growing up in Poway I personally knew a ton of skinheads, over 20 probably. Most of them didn't shave their heads most of them looked like regular guys who drove lifted trucks. Point is there's definitely a racist presence in the north county/east county areas, and I feel like its become part of the culture at large in SD. I live in the bay area now (east bay) and even though there's so much more crime going on here I feel more comfortable than I ever did in SD.
