Hello everyone.

I am in the process of moving to my favorite city, San Diego. Moving from the Bay Area.
We need a recommendation for a couple good public highschools.

My daughter just started highschool here, in the Bay Area, she is a straight A student and we want her in a good school, but cant afford private.

Any recommendations are hugely appreciated - we will be renting a condo/duplex.

Please advise which neighbourhoods are good to live in and have good high schools.

Thank you so much in advance!

Within the city of SD, Serra H. S., Patrick Henry, Scripps Ranch are pretty good. Out in the suburbs, Rancho Bernardo, Poway, La Costa Canyon, Mt. Carmel, Torrey Pines are good Good Luck

I'll recommend San Marcos High in San Marcos, CA.

SMH was voted the most positive high school in the world by the United Nations.

The school is expanding, adding new buildings designed for a 21st century educational setting. A brand new gym opened just a couple weeks ago. This is a GREAT school if you're interested in living in San Marcos. Additionally, you can stretch the $1800 rental budget in San Marcos compared to San Diego proper. Just something to chew on.

Move to Poway and you'll be happy because your daughter will be in one of the top 20 school districts in the country.

That's true. And warn her about the 'entitlement' brats (Poway has some very wealthy neighborhoods), because sometimes they make stupid life choices. Poway USD is not limited to Poway, though. It includes several neighborhoods: http://www.powayusd.com/boundaries/

I concur. Poway is and has always been the best school district here in San Diego. Ramona is supposed to be good as well.
