Fair enough. This is all new territory for me. I've never actually noticed a hitch before let alone how it connects to a car because I don't own ski mobiles, boats, RVs or large canoes for two. I thought it stuck out 2-3', but it's underneath my car, so I'll just take their word for it that they actually installed anything. Were it not for the blinking lights when I locked the trunk, I wouldn't have noticed anything at all. I'm still thinking they might have just installed blinking Christmas lights underneath the car whilst I waited 2-hrs on the only wooden bench with the neighborhood homeless & methheads next to the trash can at 7am until they called. (The last part is true... dicey place, wherever I was 7-mi from home).

And, the ball... the infamous ball. The SO reminded me to ask if they installed a ball with the hitch. When I p/u the car, I asked. She said 'What ball?'. I said, 'Ahhh... some kind of ball that comes with the hitch. Or do I purchase that separately?' She said, 'So, you want a ball now?' I said, 'I don't know. Doesn't a ball come with the hitch?' She called back to the mechanic & asked if he installed one & if I needed one. With a dreary, disappointed voice I heard him say via walkie-talkie, 'She wants a ball now? For the hitch?' What other kind of ball could I be talking about?? I did the only thing any normal woman would do... ran for the hills & crank called the SO for getting me into the ball conversation without know what, why, how or when some kind of ball no one seems to know about needs to come into play in my moving scenario. The SO called back (darn you Caller-ID) to say he has a ball in storage & will bring it with him on the plane. I hung up & crank called him again. I hope TSA isn't confiscating balls next week. If they do, I'm crank calling U-H.

Okay, I'll ask the SO to bring a padlock & cable, just in case, although they probably have something at U-Haul. If anyone asks me which padlock & cable, I'm telling them to call 1AngryTaxPayer... after all, he started it.

Thank you again for your help!

She parked her truck on Third. There's not a lot of traffic there, so it's not a big deal. I'd say park it on Third, right by the gate, and see how quickly you can load things up. You should be okay.

That does look like the best option, thank you again Tony. The police don't seem to be too concerned with dicey parking here, I've noticed lately... most nights, all night long, a non-commercial car (not truck) is parked in the loading zone on Third/Island & sometimes another virtually in front of the fire hydrant. I've been keeping an eye on the loading area to see which times it's empty (whilst attempting not to fall over the balcony)... pretty much all day & occupied after 5pm with no one doing any loading or unloading. So, yes... should be easy, as you've said.

If not, I've figured out an easy way to transport my belongings directly to U-H to load up.

Before I tape up boxes, count your pals... I may have found one who made his way across the balcony...

Thank you again everyone! No more questions from me! I really appreciate all the help. The SO said I'm worrying too much & he'll figure it out once he arrives from Denver. I might have to crank call him again.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. When I moved here, I had a huge moving truck park illegally for a couple of hours and had no problem.

As for the furry friends, nope. You ain't getting 'em. Rescue one before you leave or get one on Denver.

And how did you know I had TWO cats? They usually aren't both on the balcony at the same time. Maybe you saw them one of the few times they were.

I'm beginning to see you're so right. When I lived in the bldg in '09, I saw those little traffic golf carts on Third all day long giving tickets, everyday. This time 'round, I've seen lots of infractions & no ticketing... none at all, in fact. Just tonight there were 3 cops on bike who'd stopped several boys for a long, stern talking to on Third... the lads walked off & a car had been double parked right in front of them for over 1-hr (he was loading boxes in front of the yoga/massage place)... not even flashers on in the dark & he was taking up the entire lane... cops didn't seem to care one way or the other. I guess we'll be fine.

Oh, I know. No cat lover would every part with their little ones... I mean, Goddesses of the Universe. I like the idea of 2 when it comes to pets... so they always have another to argue with whilst we're at work. I had 2, who lived to 14 & 19. It must be 10-yrs now since... still can't bring myself to get 2 more. Someday soon. Love having the little buggers around.

How do I know? This is how we watch TV over the stairwell, since you've got the nice Dish!

And, this is often our view...

Actually, you mentioned it in one of the posts where a woman was looking for immediate downtown housing for her military husband, herself & a German Shepard. After I told her to call Gerry, I ran into her & she mentioned the bldg now only allows 1 dog/loft, at least in regard to large dogs.

I've never seen your kitties on the terrace, but I more often leave from the Island Ave exit so I can check mail, even though I'm the 2nd apt over, from the stairs overlooking your terrace. (We're on the 3rd floor, right wall from your balcony.) I try not to stare into others' houses... but...

... been meaning to ask, can you move that plant on the coffee table to the right, so we can better watch the soccer games? Thanks. Don't want to have to break out the big guns...

Have fun!

Ha ha ha. You don't want Bagheera anyway. He's very attached to me, since I got him as a kitten. And he's also diabetic. That means two shots a day, and checking his blood as well. It's just like a human diabetic.

Jacey? She'd probably be more able to adapt. But she's also a talker. She talks when she's happy, she talks when she's not happy, she talks, well, whenever. She is a real chatterbox!

Plus, Bagheera would miss her. Don't believe me? Take a look at this.

Hmmm, that looks like my computer desk, but I only have one cat, well one inside, anyway. When I move, the two outdoor cats will go with me and become indoor cats. After living the pampered life for a little while, they'll never think about going outside again.

My angora was a diabetic, too... I also did 2 shots daily during her last year. It's hard, so you've my empathy... but, based on his portfolio, your boy Bagheera doesn't look like anything's slowing him down.

I also had a tabby who was a talker... all night & day. Sounded more like singing sometimes. She was treble-pawed in front & double in back. I know that's common with tabbies. Jacey too?

I like that this thread has taken a turn from trailers to fluffy Kitt'Ns. They're great traveling companions, too...

That's great, M. My pets have all been adopted & I'd only ever adopt or take in a stray... if a little roamer wanders into one's home, they've actually chosen us. Great feng shui, those vixens.

I was adopted the minute that I moved in. Three cats have been fed this morning, and are now happy.
