We are relocating from the east coast to San Bernadino, did the house hunting thing in Redlands and San Bernadino area, and were not impressed with the older, outdated apartment communities. We found a very nice, smaller, new community in Yucaipa, near the base of the mountains and overlooking a golfcourse. We did not tour Rancho Cucamonga or the areas not recomended by the locals we spoke to. Now, I am second guessing our decision. Working long hours we wanted to be close to the San Bernadino airport, where the building is located, but nothing in the immediate area was acceptable, so we chose Yucaipa, and now I am second guessing our decision. We are a young couple, and our priorities were to be close to work, low crime, with a nice view, and fairly quiet, but also something close to a variety of nice restaurants. I am afraid we may have missed out on the Rancho Cucamonga area, should we have looked there to be closer to entertainment and dining, and not made the commute such a priority. If you have any insight, please offer it up. The movers are scheduled, and the lease is signed, but if we have to, we will reconsider. Thank you in advance!

I really like Yucaipa. Personally, if given the choice today between the two, I'd choose Yucaipa (assuming a similar situation to yours). The only thing you're missing in Rancho Cucamonga is EveryGiganticSuburb, USA.

Yucaipa is supposed to be nice to live in. For me it would be way to boring and out of the way but very lovely and pretty place to live. Honestly I dont think there is anything to be said for living in SB in dining and entertainment But I still rather this area then Rancho because it is not the attitude you have to deal with there. I think you are making a good choice and if you find you like a better place it is not the end of the world just wait out your lease. Every place is burby around here so you have a lot of territory to look through so it will take you that long to find a area anyhow.

Rancho Cucamonga is basically the nicest city in the San Bernardino valley, but it is further from SB city and is more expensive than like Yucaipa or something.

Redlands is a nice city. That would be my choice. Just stay away from the colton ave area near stater bros & the salvation army & the area around walmart.
