1985 was the last time we had major snowfall here (12"+). Sleet/freezing rain more frequently.

Rarely.

It barely freezes a handful of times during the winter, if that.

According to the National Weather Service, San Antonio averages 20 days below freezing per year.

I'm moving to San Antonio next week from New Jersey. Today in NJ is it a balmy 19 degrees, up from about 3 degrees yesterday. Anything above 19 degrees will feel like a heat wave...LOL.

Im curious to know what type of severe weather San Antonio has. I read about flash flooding, is that frequent? Also, are there Tornadoes, or Earthquakes? I know there was a recent earthquake in Dallas not too long ago, and that was very rare. Can you also tell me about the summer heat? -- more specifically, is it humid there? Is it anything like Florida heat? Is it anything like the humidity in NY heat (for anyone that may know)? thanks, your help is greatly appreciated.

It can get very hot here during the summer. People also say it gets humid here, but in my experience except in the mornings it isn't too bad.
Certainly nothing compared to the humidity Florida sees during the summer.

It's not as humid as South Florida...but it's mostly humid in the mornings until 10-11 AM then again in the evenings. Nothing like still being 85-90 at 10 PM and humid!!
As it gets hotter during the day, most of the time it gets drier, especially when it get on over 100 and such. Of course there are some days where it's just brutal all day.
Earthquakes are popping up in Texas more and more. I haven't felt any here, yet. Speculation is that fracking is the cause. Oklahoma is having the same issue it seems. Every once in a while we'll get a tornado alert..but I haven't been near any here. Flash flooding is a very real concern and it seems like several times per year we'll get some. Low lying areas will flood and we see some high water rescues on the news. Some have also perished while trying to cross flood waters in their vehicles.

I've been living in SA since Feb 2015 and its rained a ton. Is this the norm? I'm from South FL where we have random rainstorms and humidity but I expected it to be dryer here. No complaints just curious
