AMFoxtrot

Yeah, but they also had a show at the SA Event Center. It was the one that moved from the old Evers Road location a few months back (late summer?). We went to the Live Oak show last month, and while it was better than the one over on this side of town, it still wasn't that impressive especially compared to the SAXET ones...

No, I agree with you. Definitely the smaller of the two. And certainly not nearly as much stuff to ogle over, but the show hasn't completely disappeared, which was the gist I got from your post.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that TGS had pulled out of SA altogether, just that their show on this side of town was no longer.

I think it was inevitable, given the popularity of the SAXET show I don't think many people would come out a week later for a show that was considerably smaller...

Looking for some help, I've got a TEC 9 pre-ban and was wondering what they are going for at the gun shows. I bought it about 20-25 yrs ago for the heck of it...I've never even fired it....

I can't remember ever seeing one at a show here. I did see a guy shooting one at the Bullet Hole last year, though, and he was lucky to get a shot off before it jammed. His was new, though, so probably a completely different gun.
What is special about the pre-ban one anyhow? I don't know much about them.

TEC-9s seem to be running $450-550 on GB, but they don't have the best reputation for reliability or accuracy. I heard the AB-10 was a bit better, but not by much. Plus, the company that made them was sued out of business.

The are novelty guns, but they also got a "gansta" reputation for being easily (and usually illegally) converted to full-auto, and for appearing in a few rap videos...

yeah, I'll just stick with my Glock 19 and maybe one day put a 32 round magazine on it. Don't really see it happening, though.
You could probably make some money off the TEC selling it to someone that is all about the name and doesn't know much else about the gun. After seeing that one jam up non-stop, I wouldn't ever get one.

Just a head's up, next weekend (23-24 Jan) there will be a SAXET gun show at the Alzafar Shrine Temple (901 N Loop 1604 W, 78232). Show hours are Sat. 9am - 6pm and Sun. 9am - 5pm, parking is free.

There will be two more SAXET shows at this location (http://saxetshows.com/_schedule.htm - broken link) in 2010, the dates are 24-25 Jul and 25-26 Sep. Mark you calendars!

Cheers! M2

if you go there MMM, could you check out the prices on a Ruger LCR? I held one for the first time at Academy today and fell in love with it. I think that'll do a much better job of fitting in my pocket than my SP101, plus it's nearly impossible to find a pocket holster for a 3" revolver (I know that just made a couple people snicker). I also heard they're going to release one in .357 Magnum, which would probably sting a little... I'd get one, though

any other places carry the LCR here in SA? The Academy price was $450, which is $50 too much compared to the online prices I've seen. It's also a pretty hard gun to get your hands on, though.
