there was a place on the corner of blanco and lock-hill selma, may have been a phillips 66, that rented bridgestine motorcycles. i used to rent them all the time back in the late 60's and early 70's.

Darryl, being a lifelong southsider and even a (now retired) veteran firefighter who extensively worked southern Bexar County, I had NEVER seen that section of the old Pleasanton Rd's and bridge. As I went through your photo album I kept asking myself where is this? Initially I thought it might be near FM 536 a few miles into Atascosa County, but when I saw a place to shoot I was dumbfounded. Thanks! Its amazing how I used to travel that section of Moursund and Pleasanton road for so long and even as then new bridge was build just north of Martinez-Losoya I had never seen that structure. Bravo, my friend. Bravo.

The photo location is on St. Mary's St. downtown. They have crossed the side
street. To their right would be the San Antonio River. In the background is the
Aztec movie marque . Also @ the corner was a Studer's. In your photo you
can see part of the word. The location for the Aztec Theater downtown was
St. Mary's & Commerce. Based on the movie on the billboard I would place
the year @ 1946. The other photo of the Aztec Theater, I would place at a
later date, based on the movie. This theater originally showed first run movies
back then.

What I would give to go back in time....
I would cross the street, pass the Potchernick's store & enjoy this...

The first proprietor of that station was a guy named Louie Schafer. He sold and Enco station on the corner of West Avenue and Trudell to open this one. We did business with Louie for years.
