It was a great pizza place with deep dish pizza.

I'm pretty sure the grocery store in that spot was a Handy Andy. There used to be a Sommers Drug Store there too.

Someone mentioned El Azteca. I loved that place! In that same shopping center, maybe even next door, was a hair salon. I think it was called Family Affair Hair Care? It was where I got my first haircut that was not done by my Mom and I believe it was the Dorothy Hamill cut!

OMG ...this is cool reading of the good old days in SA.

I used to frequent Cooter Browns. I recall the Midget Farm near Callaghan and I-10 (used to walk the g/f up the trail in back - much scarier that way).

Malibu Grand Prix racing was always a fun evening. Gatti's Pizza on Wurbach.

Wow ..this takes me back.

Anyone recall the old Gulfmart store at Broadway & 410 (maybe Wetmore & 410)? They eventually merged with Shopper's World and from then on were called Gulfmart-Shoppersworld. (Pronounced Choppersworld in the tv ads)

The first incarnation of "A Place to Shoot" was originally just south of Potranco Rd off Loop 1604...almost directly across from where Santikos is building the Granada Theater. This is the location that has been alluded to a couple of times...I didn't know they had moved to southern SA after the Potranco location closed...and yea, 2.1 million is a little too rich for my blood also!

Does anyone remember when Karam's Mexican restaurant had a location at I10 and Callaghan? Late 70's. I think it was on the access road between Malibu/Castle and Callaghan. They had some kind of Aztec statue outside in front with a built in speaker. I don't remember what kind of messages came out of it.

Default Karam's

I don't remember Karam's Mexican Restaurant, but is that the same Karam family that owns the Mexican Manhattan Restaurant downtown?

Anyone here old enough to remember Marios and Ninfa's? A lot of controversy over the city's takeover of Marios, but I dont recall if Ninfa's was involved in that or closed for other reason. What else was in that area before the urban redevelopment?
