Yeah they were good and greasy. Hals used to be across the street. Same time type of Burger Joint. The family ate there one time and we all got food poising. LOL
Griffs were good. But I think Floyds were better. First Mate Was mentioned. Man I loved that place. There was also a tiny Chicken and Fish Stand Right besides Captain Jims. ( To the Left of the Trail Drive IN) Their fish tasted Just like First Mates. They closed down in the 80s. Ahhh and who could forget Bud Jones. Still in Business. Home of all the Fish you can eat.

On the bright side, it looks like they are going to restore the Sunken Gardens.

I am very happy to hear that! Many of my dates with my wife were spent wandering around the gardens. Even when we did not have flowers, we had each others eyes to enjoy.

Will this include the theatre too?

The last few times I have been in SA and near the zoo area it has been under major renovation. Are they close to completing that?

There was one in Central Park Mall and they sold guns and liquor(actually liquor and sporting goods - my first pair of water ski's came from there)

Don't know why it closed down but I am thinking it was about '81-ish when they closed.
I recall a time before the current liquor laws ..when they sold bottles of booze in the Fedmart grocery store

If I could only remember the name... something "Palace" maybe? (Not Bluebonnet Palace or Lone Star Palace; this place pre-dated those by decades.) It was a big structure on a huge lot.

The Farmer's Daughter?

I spent many a Friday evening at Lyndy's back in the mid-80's. Was a really cool place. Lots of plants and stuffed animals overhead. I recall a full-sized stuffed cougar in there.

I had almost forgotten about that place. Thanks for the memory.
