gy2020-great picts. Spent a lot of time at Wimberely building two booths for my sister. She sold one but still owns a booth at the Lions market days. Your first post #72 about the Lions market days is a photo of the large parking lot across the highway from the market. One of my sisters customers lost her $10K rings. She pulled her rings off and put in her lap to apply hand lotion. Her husband parked the car and she forgot and got out of the car. The next weekend I used my metal detector to no avail. I found a lot of money tho.

gy2020-If I remember correctly, a past president of Southwest Texas State University James McCrocklin, lived in Wimberely. McCrocklin resigned when it was revealed that much of his doctoral dissertation had been plagiarized. I was attending SWTSU at the time, and the event was really depressing for the student body. What a disgrace.
I think he then opened a real estate office in Wimberely. I did a Anywho search and there is a Jim McCrocklin real estate company in Wimberely. Wonder if it is the same guy?

49olds
That's interesting. My grandmother on dad's side (including JY) grew up in Wimberley. When she married she moved to SA in 1885. The family kept the property and then sold it around 1900. It was about 200 acres fronting on the Blanco River. Her parents and grandparents are buried in Wimberley. Here's the interesting connection. SWTSU owns my great grandparents property. I wonder if your illustriouos leader was living on their property? I have some earlier Wimberley pics of them and the property on this same thread. By the way 49 olds I need you to call on the phone tonite. I need to talk to you.

Hello,

gy2020

Nelson City Dance Hall is about the ENTIRE town of Nelson City. PoPo's is right nest door (also GREAT FOOD) and there is a mobile home park and oh yeah they built a little village shopping center and a butterfly viewing area, but that's about it.

When I say "small town" those are really "small towns"

Edge Falls. WOW! Thank you so much for sharing these pics!!!

My uncle's family owned (well, still DO own) a ranch near the very end of Blanco Rd, where it T's into Highway 46, and we went to Edge Falls a number of times during weekends at the ranch. What a treat that was! I remember descending the steep, rickety metal steps bolted into the cliff that led down to the edge of the falls pool...

How sad that a few biker nimrods had to ruin it for everyone. I knew Edge Falls had been closed down since the 1970s, but hadn't heard the whole story of why that happened. Don't blame the owners one bit, but it's a pity that that wonderful private park had to go away.

Thanks again - what a wonderful voyage back in time your pictures are!

Nice pics!
I have some pictures of Wimberley that I took last time I was out there. My friends own this place and it's always great to visit them. Unfortunately, they are looking to sell their B&B, so I don't know how much longer I can head out there.

Those are all great pictures!! I'm a student at TX State and the top few are near where the commuters park. But... and no offense meant, but you took the easiest pictures to take, in terms of physical exhaustion and exercise. I'll take pictures of the vast amounts of steps students have to climb to get to class. I'll show you stairs that will make prospective students wish they'd taken internet courses!!!
