Beautiful! Thank you!
I love visiting those little Victorian houses in Gruene turned into shops out there.

Wish I could live there but land is too costly.

I am stuck living nearer too Randolph Base, nothing classic or neat around here.

Thanks. Beautiful! I love downtown New Braunfels and Landa Park. It's quite a change from Seguin downtown which looks so desolate in comparison. At least NB is using the downtown area. Seguin looks like it doesn't even care. But I may be wrong because I'm not as familiar with Seguin.

I was going to suggest San Marcos. That's cool. I love the San Marcos river as it runs through the city park (tubing route). I stop there every time I pass through San Marcos. There is a beautiful overhead shot of that river at the end of the movie "Still Breathing" starring Brendan Fraser, which was shot mostly in San Antonio. I don't know if there are any tubers out this early in the year though. The tube chute is near where the river intersects Cheatham street. This is where the trolley picks up the tubers to transport them back to the tube rental shack.

Some of the tubers start out behind Joe's Crab Shack by the waterfall in back, but the rental place is a little further downstream by the University. (It took me forever to find this because I had only visited one time as a kid).

These pics aren't a town but this was a cool place in the 50's and 60' and even a part of the 70's when some bikers ruined it for everyone. This is Edge Falls in Kendall County. The photos were taken in December of 1965 with a little instamatic camera. Forgive the quality, but the local makes up for it. Edge Falls was a cavern with a river running above it. Gradually the river caved in the roof causing a 30 foot waterfall. The rocks in the center are part of the roof. The pool of water was about 30 feet deep. In the seventies a group of bikers came in and decided it would be fun to ride their bikes over the ledge. Insurance skyrocketed closing the place down. A Houston family owns the property now and the public is no longer permitted.

10 pics:
