I didn't go as far as I wanted (just about ~55 miles or so), because the moon was so bright, there were not many other stars to see anyway.

Nice shots folks!! I'm out near Canyon Lake and didn't get out until the eclipse was almost complete, shooting in program mode, auto focus, & handheld, with my Canon SX50, the moon was too dark for those settings & definitely shouldn't have been handheld, but I had my video camera on my tripod & although not as colorful, I got much better results. My stills came out grainy & the SX50 had trouble locking focus, but I still got a few decent shots. It was worth getting out of bed & going out, just to see it.
