Remodeling, gone bad or cheap. Like when someone covered up something good with something terrible like floral wallpaper. Getting rid of nice original hardwood doors to replace them with the plain hollow core kind.

If it is the house I am thinking of, it is WONDERFUL!!!

A HUGE Masterbedroom loft area with a neat lanai off the bedroom and wonderful living room. Tiny kitchen, studio type of room with a courtyard between main house and the garage/studio area...if I were inclined to do that type of modifications, would have loved to knocked out the bedroom behind the kitchen area and enlarge the kitchen. Cool house and worth your viewing for sure!

The house does need work, but is such a cool design for the person with the right skills!!!

That's a really cool place - thanks for posting the pics. What neighborhood is it in? I never came across anything like that during my house hunt this spring...

I posted these pics of a groooooovey 60's MCM in the other Mid-Century post, so I thought I'd re-post here for the benefit of those that missed that one - this casa de cool is currently for sale in Northwood. SUPER-COOL IMHO.

...it's off Urban Crest on Pike, I don't think there's a For Sale sign in the yard, but you can't miss it, although the lot is really large (it's also really close to some odd 1970's Milton Ryan duplexes).

Okay, this HAS to be the daddy of all mid-century architecture in San Antonio - freaking AMAZING...BUT IMHO way too pricey for a 2600 sq. ft in the current economy. I mean, yeah, it's in Oak Hills, great neighborhood, BUT in SAISD, and the lot isn't the hottest (a smallish corner) - now if this was in Terrell Hills, I could see the price tag as quite justified. But still, an amazing, amazing MCM masterpiece (also quite cool, the house uses some sort of large stone blocks in lieu of bricks, something I've never seen, almost like the house was built of raw marble)!

Wow. I am NOT a fan of mid-century modern... just have never had an appreciation for it. But that house is amazing. LOVE IT! One of the coolest houses I've seen in SA. Well... next to my 1920s-Mediterranean-Revival-meets-1960s-globalfunkhippieartist house, anyway.
