So i just got accepted as a transfer student into sac state (environmental studies major). i have never been to sac before and fell in love with the campus and the city/area on a visit this past weekend. i live about 400 miles south in ventura county. i'm looking for a 2 bedroom apt with 1 bathroom and prices seem to be pretty cheap around campus.

one question i had was what are the bad areas/neighborhoods to stay away from?

The school is in East Sac (which is one of the most beautiful hoods i've ever been to) and that's very nice.

anything else i need to know about the city?

Congrats! Go Hornets! East Sac is really nice, not a whole lot of apartments there, though. College Greens to the East is very popular with college students. Midtown has experienced a renaissance andhas a lot of stuff happening for young people, aka...bars, restaurants, clubs.

Really anywhere around the college is good. The thing about Sac you'll find is that you can be in a good area one minute and then within blocks be in a shady neighborhood. It's kinda crazy. There is a ton of stuff to do in the region if you like the outdoors, and Tahoe, SF, and Napa are all with in a couple of hours drive.

The one thing you'll notice is that some people in this area tend to have an inferiority complex about LA and the Bay and love to complain about what is lacking...just ignore them, if it suits you, that that's all you need.

Oh, and you must immediately drop your love of the Lakers and associate with the Kings...its the law

Some of the areas north of the school (but not immediately north, more like a few miles) get kinda sketchy, I had been looking in that area before.. anyways I live in Reno now but am probably moving to Sac soon and I think I am going to move around the mid-town area as that seems to have the most going on while being an ok area.
