Well, they are sovereign and have a compact with the state that already allows it. They run casinos in Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Salamanca: https://senecacasinos.com/

So, this isn't anything new for them.

Exactly.

And federal government approval, to become a Sovreign building site. The government is very much a part of this because they get a cut of the profits. Additionally, why would someone who is supposed to protect us from predators like this, not tell them to take a hike? As I said earlier, she has committed herself through some other negotiation and is now backed into a corner. if they do want to be in Rochester, then downtown would be the place, and the mayor has explicitly said we don't want it.

Again, the Senecas are sovereign and due to the compact, can place a gaming facility anywhere in the state west of Route 14. So, given that agreement, this is as much about what the Senecas want to do, as it is with the state following the gaming compact the two entities have with each other.

Also, if the city doesn't want it, then the Senecas may just find another site within that compact territory.

It's socially acceptable to rage against The Government. Very taboo and politically incorrect to acknowledge it's the Native Americans that want to force this on us.

Note to Senecas and all relevant electeds: Rochester's vibe is a little brainy, a little quirky-creative, a little elevated-sophisticated. A casino does not fit with our vibe.

From this, it does sound like government approval is needed.
