We are thinking of a relocation to Richmond...kids in college so local school options not important. We are active, love the water, the arts, and entertaining. Moving from a major city. Where should we look? would love home on water or at least a pool. We can spend up to 800,000...
Any advice and info would be great!!

By home I assume you mean a single family dwelling and not a condo? As such my recommendations would be to check out Overlook Town Homes in Oregon Hill or at any homes for sale along Riverside Drive on the South Side. Both areas keep you close to the City and its cultural offerings but give you nice views of the James River and relatively easy access to the James River Park System. If you planned on having a boat, a condo at Rockett's Landing might interest you as well as boat slips are still available down there.

If you want to be close to arts and entertaining with a home on the water, Rockett's Landing could work or maybe a downtown condo on the river? For single family homes, something along Riverside Drive perhaps? And River Rd as well with a budget of $800k.

We were recently job relocated out to the Midwest. Our kids are in the Twin Hickory/Goochland area. We can't wait to move back!
With your price point and if you don't want maintenance look into Boone Homes-they build a beautiful product and if you click on maintenance free homes, many communities offer a pool!

The Villas at Grey Oaks is very nice. A little further from Richmond, Kinloch in Goochland is really beautiful and is not that far from Richmond.

Here's the Boone website

You will have many many options in your price point. A few have been mentioned but there are many many more depending on the size of the property you are seeking.
