It really wasn't that long ago when nobody cared about Jamestown and it was mainly known as being a good place to buy weed from its hillbilly inhabitants.

You don't know squat about Rhode Island. My statement is 100% accurate. That's exactly how Jamestown used to be.

Like you would know how the island "used to be". Stick to your icky Crime Creep. Knowing the nuances of Jamestown history is well above your capacity.

Yeah, unlike you, I would.

Once or twice I stayed at a friend's summer home in Jamestown, back when I was a kid. The place itself was quite primitive, and while it was nice the neighborhood also seemed "rough". Not in a bad inner city sort of way, but kind of echoing how redplum tells it.

Well, Jamestown is still part of Rhode Island. While the setting of the town is idyllic, it does not have the same level of refinement as summer colonies in, say, Connecticut or New York. YMMV.

I beg your pardon...

I am referring to the generally threadbare character of RI towns, even the wealthier ones. In my opinion, the only true exceptions to this rule are Little Comptom and New Shoreham (Block Island).

Rather than exceptions, others might make the same case for the RI towns of New Shoreham & especially Little Compton. Maybe even a better case when it comes to any degree of refinement.

I've never found Jamestown "threadbare" at all. Of course Bluegrass, I have no idea of exactly what you mean by this? The people aren't "riche" enough for you? Maybe you should explain.

Ok now I'm confused. You find Lityle Compton less "threadbare" than Jamestown. Why? Define threadbare?
Maybe we see that word differently. I like both towns but Little Compton is more remote than Jamestown and could be called more threadbare because of it. It's literally the last point on a peninsula whereas Jamestown has its own attractions and is a city away from.Newport.

And again, I like Little Compton
