PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to trafficking methamphetamine and could serve up to life in prison, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Alexa Samoiloff, 51, admitted to a federal court judge that she facilitated drug deals from her apartment, as well as in hotel rooms and other unspecified locations. She told the judge she provided instructions to her co-conspirators using an encrypted app.

Samoiloff's most recent address listed, is 257 Gano St. Apt 3 in the city's Wayland neighborhood.

Update:

Alexa Samoiloff got a 10 year sentence.

Meth Trafficker Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

"A Providence woman described in court as a “major pipeline” for trafficking methamphetamine into Rhode Island was sentenced today to 10 years in federal prison."

She was apparently dealing meth out of her East Side apartment at the corner of Gano and Waterman.

It certainly isn't where I'd expect meth dealing to be going on.

No, she clearly did not. We're discussing stuff that is happening in RI. This is not a general discussion about drugs or the pros and cons of legalization.

You mean like this recent MJ bust in OAKLAND BEACH Holly?

Warwick pot bust tied to ongoing DEA investigation involving other locations

https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news...her-locations/

"WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A marijuana grow pulled by federal and local officers in Warwick is allegedly related to a 2019 seizure in West Warwick, the Target 12 Investigators have learned.
Hundreds of marijuana plants were confiscated Friday from 830 Oakland Beach Ave. — a location that up until two years ago housed the community organization known as the Jonah Center.
A spokesperson for the Rhode Island office of the Department of Justice said both the Warwick case and the October 2019 seizure of dozens of pot plants from 656 Providence St. in West Warwick are part of an ongoing investigation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration. No other details were available."

The US needs to look at what HAS worked in other first world countries like Portugal. No more criminal charges, combined with proper medical treatment of addicted people in Portugal. The result has been a large decline in use, and much less crime, because the addicts do not need to steal to support their habit, unlike in the US.

About 80 percent of all the petty crime in the US is done by addicts to support their daily drug purchases. That is why so many people have their cars broken into, or have their bike stolen, or have their homes broken into. Drug users steal, every day. They will steal anything, to sell to get their drug of choice. Meth heads are dangerously unpredictable, and violent.
Interesting post. The US is the world's largest illicit drug market by usage rate, or by cash market value?

Oregon has recently taken a step toward the Portugal approach, as the voters there decriminalized small amounts of illicit drugs by voter referendum. It will be interesting to see if they see any improvement.

This American Addition Center link (using data sourced from City-Data) suggests that among cities nationwide, Providence seems to be somewhere in the middle of the pack when it comes to illicit drug use. We don't appear anywhere in their "worst of" lists, as we would if we warranted it. But you wouldn't know it from the constant drumbeat in this forum exaggerating the problem.

So we can imagine it's just pure civic mindedness that one person in RI and one in Maine would post extensive details about drug trafficking in RI.

How incredibly helpful of them.

It's understandable that a recent transplant wouldn't be aware of RI history.

You may be interested to know that, in 1986, Rolling Stone magazine published a feature story about Central Falls, RI. It was about cocaine. The author labeled Central Falls as the cocaine capital of the United States, and pointed out that there is more cocaine in the one-square-mile RI city than there is in all of New York City and Miami...combined.

And going a bit off-topic, you may also be interested to know that, in 1977, The Washington Post published an article which stated that the Chad Brown Housing Projects in Providence are among the 5 most dangerous places in the entire world.
