Well, my retirement may be put on hold for some time. I'm going back to work, for how long I dont know, but my feeling is its going to be quite awhile. I'm looking forward to it. After three years, an I'm actually kinda bored. Anyone else get bored and gone back to work?

I’m bored too. Been out almost 5 years now. Been scrolling through Indeed looking at jobs. Might look for part time work. Might not. But definitely bored! Need to solve that some how.

Going back to work is what one does for financial reasons. Not boredom, unless working is a hobby in retirement.

There are a 1000 other options to do stuff in retirement

For me, I enjoy my work much more than my hobbies. And I can still do my hobbies and work.

I’m working 10 hours a week as a consultant to our school district. It’s the perfect amount for me.

I understand.

I've now retired 3 times. I'm 70 and I spent 47 years doing engineering. I absolutely loved it. Most people would think I ought to stay retired. I have plenty of money, so that's not a problem.

But I'm bored too.

Too many days are Groundhog Days.

I need to find a gig teaching the young ones.

So too many negatives for me to think about having to go back. First and foremost I don't want to be on anyone's time clock and next I don't "love' what I do. I don't hate it but when I'm hear I'm definitely thinking of the 90 other things I'd rather be doing.

There are way to many resources out there to alleviate boredom IMO.

DH is 71. He is hypertensive Type A - he has never stopped working- it may be his early demise if he ever stops. We have 25 acres and horses, he also does 98% of the maintenance around here.

I am no longer physically able to get to work on time while still doing the daily horse care and stall cleaning, so I fully retired nine years ago.

I miss the extra money from work but I don’t miss work at all. I love my horses too much and I love this property. There’s always something to do, if it does take me twice as long as it used to.

We live fairly remote so there is always a plethora of nature to look at and appreciate every day - from animals and their babies, to watching the trees bud in the spring and being thankful for all of it.

Nupe, I miss going to work like a toothache at a turkey dinner
