If one of these marques were to be brought back, both as mainstream mid-level luxury brands, which one would you drive? General Motors Oldsmobile, the oldest car company in history, or Chryslers Imperial, a brand luxurious enough for Frank Sinatra. Based solely on the name and what comes to your mind when you hear these names. Not based on their history or previous models.

I would pick Oldsmobile.

If you can add a poll I would do that.

Oldsmobile is a brand and Imperial is a model line. This is an apples to oranges comparison.

From 1995 to 1983 it was its own brand. Chryslers Imperial division was its luxury division.

You are right, it was actually from 1955-1975 and then from 1981-1983.

Never heard of Imperial before today. Oldsmobile reminds me of the awful Alero rental car I drove once. Not much interested in either one if they came back.

I would pick Oldsmobile because my 1905 Model is still going strong at 108 year old

1905?! That's 37 years older than the oldest car I have ever even ridden in! That's insanely awesome!

And yes, Oldsmobile. They lasted 107 years (1897-2004) and made excellent cars from the Curved Dash all the way to the Aurora. They need an individualized brand identity, like in the 60s and 70s, but I think Olds would do well. After all, Buick made a comeback.

Default Here's a picture I posted before...

Took Mom for a ride once... she kept telling me to slow down and that was at 25mph!

Seems a lot faster when you are sitting right out in front.
