This sounds like your shifter mechanism is out of adjustment, maybe DH just needs to give this a bit more TLC?

Either the shifter and the neutral safety switch need adjusting or maybe the switch itself is bad/dirty or the connectors between the switch and the rest of the car's wiring are dirty/loose?

Meantime it may help if the car won't start in Park, shift into Neutral and see if it won't start then. Obviously with the car in Neutral, you need to be pressing on the brake pedal so the car does not roll if it's parked on a non-level place.

We got it fixed it was the NSS ... We bought a new one and the car works fine ;-)
