Voodoo, Christianity, Catholicism and African spirit worhip all combine for voodoo religious ritual. Voodoo ritual spirit possession is in fact the same thing as a Christian, "spirit filled" church service where the "Holy Ghost falls" upon believers, speak in tongues and become "slain in the spirit".

Christianity and voodoo are two different things. People also try to say that muslims and voodoo are similar.

Voodoo
juju: a charm superstitiously believed to embody magical powers
(Haiti) followers of a religion that involves witchcraft and animistic deities
bewitch by or as if by a voodoo

Christianity
a monotheistic system of beliefs and practices based on the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus as embodied in the New Testament and ...
Christendom: the collective body of Christians throughout the world and history (found predominantly in Europe and the Americas and Australia); "for a thousand years the Roman Catholic Church was the principal church of Christendom"

These are two separate beliefs.

Your definition of voodoo is incorrect. The correct definition of voodoo is below and it says nothing about witchcraft. According to the definition, voodoo beliefe in spirit or divine creature is no different from Chrisitian believe in a spirit or devine creator.

The word voodoo derives from vodũ, which in Fon, Ewe, and related language (distributed from contemporary Ghana to Benin) means spirit or divine creature (in the sense of divine creation).

Actually there is a difference bc voodoo dont believe in God and there practice is different.

Yes, but what spirit are they believing in, it is not a spirit of God. LOL, has nothing to do with Christians.

Actually the word derives from Dahomey, Vodu, and means spirit or deity. Voodoo originated in Africa.

Venice Voodoo is now making waves by combining New Orleans-style Magick with the free spirit of Venice.

Oh, trust me I'm very familar with voodoo and hoodoo only because my church comes in contact with these people in africa, and they have nothing to do with Christianity. This is very common and the witch doctors still practice these beliefs in Africa.

I don't get it. Is there some website or book somewhere with a list of all 5 million negative things you can attack the catholic Church about?

Black magic is also used in Voodoo as well as using dolls. Practitioners of Voodoo also use spells. There are healing spells, love spells and spells to celebrate joy. The image of black magic and harmful spells was mainly founded by Europeans who had a distrust of anything African.

Voodoo is a very old and ancient system which originated from the West Africa. It is ancient system in which many old religious and ritual practices take place. This ritual also involves deities being born and honored. Voodoo is widely spread within almost every African group that comes in West Africa. However in recent times people associate voodoo rituals with the creation of Voodoo dolls and Zombies.

Although there are reports and evidences of Zombie creation it is not associated with Voodoo magic. This falls under the 'Bokor' or sorcerer rather than the priest of Lwa. As far as the subject of Voodoo Dolls goes it has been an ancient practice and has its place in European folk magic history. The origins of sticking pin to a doll to cause pain to some one else is unknown

Once again Christianity and Voodoo are different, but nice try too. LOL, LOL

I would encourage you to research the difference between the two, because obviously you have not a clue to what you are talking about. My church battles with these people and I know what they are about in Africa and where Voodo came from.

Voodoo belief recognizes one Supreme Being who created the universe, but who is too far away for a personal relationship with its worshippers. Therefore, the cult followers serve the loa or lesser deities to gain guidance for their lives. The loa are the spirits of ancestors, animals, natural forces, and the spirits of good and evil. Christianity believe in the total opposite of this.

voodoo belief is the ritual that takes place one year and one day after the decease of a relative. Voodoo belief states that there are two parts of the human soul. The two parts consists of ti-bon-ange (little good angel) and gros-bon-ange (great good angel). The gros-bon-ange is the body’s life force, and after death, the gros-bon-ange must return to the cosmos. This has nothing to do with Christianity.

To make sure that the ti-bon-ange is guaranteed a peaceful rest, the gros-bon-ange must be recalled through an elaborate expensive ritual involving the sacrifice of a large animal, like an ox, to appease the ti-bon-ange. If the ti-bon-ange spirit is not satisfied and given a peaceful rest, the spirit remains earthbound forever and brings illness or disasters on others. This has nothing to do with Christianity.

With voodoo’s countless deities, demonic possessions, animal sacrifices (human sacrifices in the Petro -- black magic form of voodoo) This has nothing to do with Christianity.

Talismans are bought and sold as fetishes. These could be statues representing voodoo gods, dried animal heads, or other body parts. They are sold for medicine and for the spiritual powers that these fetishes are believed to hold. The dark side of voodoo is used by participants to summon evil spirits and cast hexing spells upon adversaries. This has nothing to do with Christianity.

The priesthood of voodoo is held by both men and women. There are stages of initiation into its priestly duties. Their functions are primarily: healing, rituals, religious ceremonies to call or pacify the spirits, holding initiations for new priests or priestesses, telling fortunes, reading dreams, casting spells, invoking protections, and creating potions for various purposes. These potions are for anything from love spells to death spells; all for a hefty fee of course. This has nothing to do with Christianity.

Voodoo Religion – How does it compare with Christianity?
When comparing Christianity and the Voodoo religion, the more apparent difference is that Christians do not have to elaborate with expensive rituals to appease God. Christians believe that God, in His mercy, sent His Son Jesus to fulfill any sacrifice needed to quell evil and uplift the goodness of God. Those who worship God in truth have a close relationship with Him. He is closer to us than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

God lets us know through His Word to avoid divinations, fortune telling, and witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:22; 2 Chronicles 33:6; 2 Kings 9:22; Micah 5:12; Nahum 3:4; Galatians 5:19-21). This is to protect us from the father of all lies, the Devil (John 8:44). Christ already paid the price that gave Him the victory over death and evil spirits. Voodoo believers must invoke spells to pacify angry spirits. Christians only need to whisper the name of Jesus, the Victor (1 Corinthians 15:54-57; 1 John 5:4-5).

So, yes voodoo intermingled with with Catholic rituals and saints, but those were a group of people who decided to compromise their belief with this pagan practice, but still does not have anything to do with the Christian Faith.

I guess the God from the Christian spirit/idea comes from the sex they all are doing behind your back. God is alive.

You really can't see the similarities between the two religions in that statement??

Priests, religious ceremonies, "healing", rituals, beggin' Jesus's spirit to come cast out demon spirits/exorcisms... blah blah blah...
