Because Satan has his minions here in embodiment. They, the fallen ones, have infiltrated the planet for a long time (thousands of years) and have a kind of strong hold over it. We'll never get rid of the devil till we get rid of them, which is not likely to happen any time soon.

He will Rev 20:10 "Then the devil who betrayed them, was thrown into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur, joining the beat and the false prophet. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever".
The devils power is not eternal, he will meet his doom

Of course his power is eternal..God is both good and evil..he would have to get rid of himself in order for evil to not be around. Besides, why has God set a predetermined date to get rid of evil? Why not do it now? Simple answer is..HE CANT! Good needs evil just like light needs dark

Jesus defeated satan at the cross and one day satan will be gone forever, never to temp anyone again, but through Jesus we have the power to resist his temptation. If God were evil, He would never have had a plan to send Jesus to die for us on the cross.

He did! Paul, speaking to the saints at Rome warning them of those who cause divisions and praising them for their obedience, said:
"And the God of peace will crush Satan under YOUR feet SHORTLY." He was to be crushed SHORTLY in Paul's day under the feet of those of that generation! Man in and of himself is thoroughly wicked enough to account for ALL the evil in this world. Satan is a scapegoat who no longer has any power! Let's lay the blame at the proper feet--unregenerated mankind whose hearts are desperately wicked in their lost state (Jeremiah 17:9)!
