Yesterday being Christmas, I had a nice peaceful walk to the bank, didn't have to worry about people pulling up behind me at the ATM (I'm on foot, but it's the only ATM the bank has) while I'm getting the rent money out of the bank.
That is so neat. Back in the 1950's banks were open five days a week from 10:00 A.M. till 2:00 P.M. All the accounting had to be done on ancient mechanical hand calculators and consequently they only opened the teller's windows for four hours. When some banks first began to open on Saturdays everyone thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I really enjoy being able to withdraw several hundred dollars from the ATM at my credit union. Methinks I appreciate it much more than my grandchildren.

In the West, Saturday and Sunday are holidays becoz that is how the establishment can force the Jewish and Christian sabbath on the populace

And this is not gonna change! And how weird that most of the rest of the world observes this too.

Can you explain why hungry Tony was driving around all over the North East yesterday like Will Smith in I am legend???

I admit it I got so annoyed with Christmas

It's not like I live in the hillbilly areas of the US. But I was forced to take refuge in a diner owned by Mexicans. The lady said it was the Mexican spirit. No holidays. Work, work, work!

I'm a big fan of productivity, 24/7. But of course, I don't apply this rule to myself. I believe in Capitalism

Everyone I know gets two days a week off. For me, it happens to be Saturday and Sunday, but everyone gets two days off every week.

Right, so do most people here, but that doesn't mean they close up shop...

I agree. I hated that most places were closed yesterday. I was wanting to go do a little shopping, and CVS was supposed to be open. I had driven by it earlier and it was, but i went there at 11:00 pm, and they were closed, so Walgreens got my business. They were packed. As a matter of fact everything that was open, was packed. If it's open, they will come!

Because you're too lazy to cook a meal for yourself. That, or you can't read a simple cookbook.

I said everybody is FREE to be open 24/7, not that everybody was. Those that are run shifts, so that everyone gets time off...Did you actually think I meant that people in a 24 hour operation work around the clock with no days off?
