Tinder's Elo horse$h1t punishes people who are 'different', not necessarily 'ugly'. If black isn't universally popular, or in my case: beard, then your pushed down to the bottom of the stack... but we all know there are hotties that like (read: prefer) black (or bearded) but we're probably not coming up very often in the stack because it's negativity polarized to the LCD.
Edit: I can't swear. Is this AOL circa 1997!?
It depends on where you are too. I am way more popular on the east coast than I am in CA.

Popular should have nothing to do with it. Matching should. If Brigitte Nielson is looking for Flavor Flav, Brigitte Nielsen should find Flavor Flav. Number of swipes don't mean sht.

But some locales don’t have Flava Flavs. It is about inventory.

Hun, I'm a weirdo into the weirdo scene. Every locale has a Flavor Flav. He's not a bit-for-bit copy of Flavor Flav. He's all the proper chaotic DNA that results in a Flavor Flav like entity. He's there. He's unique. He's looking for love. In Essex, he's Scoobius Pip looking for his Kat Von D. Trust me on this. This is a constant. You're in Oakland for effs sake. :-p

I met a guy from Bumble over the weekend. He is 35 and just moved to my city a few weeks ago. He mentioned several other dates he's been on and talked about how a woman he had been communicating with insisted on meeting for dinner, but he told her that he only wanted to meet for drinks and she got upset. Apparently, money is a concern for him since he just recently moved and started a new job. He listed his occupation on Bumble as an "entrepreneur." He and I met for drinks and we both had one drink. I excused myself to the bathroom and when I returned, I discovered that he had requested separate checks (my drink was $9). Do I think a guy HAS to pay for my drink? No. Do I think it's kind of pathetic that you're 35 years old and admitted to going on a bunch of dates with women, yet your financial situation is such that you can't even pay $10 for one drink? Yes, yes I do.
