We have curfews in France now due to the Covid. Not all over France, but in at least 8 cities.
Ours isn’t, but we only have about 85k people living there and there’s not been a single reported or even suspected case of the virus... as of today. The curfew is in effect for a month from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am.

My dad was in on all that, but we still have to call him JD. ( juris doctor).

I saw a post on FB, it read that so and so was "the devil in carnage", I don't know the person but I think that they meant "Devil Incarnate", LOL, I've made my share of screwing up various sayings over the years. I find myself now doing a quick Bing check to see if I've gotten it right before I type certain things out.

I still get pretty lazy with the typos at times on this forum, but I read and write all day for work. I'm too lazy to spend the energy proofreading things for CD when I have to do it so much on the job.

Since joining this site I’ve become fluent in both reading and writing in Typonese. Probably better at writing it than reading it.

You may or may not believe this Chow, but the term doctor means "to teach" and was first granted to teachers, back in the Middle Ages. Nowadays, when people hear the word doctor, they typically think of medical doctors. Doctorate degrees were first intended to qualify someone to teach latin. PhD degrees came much later, I think 17th century.

As a former student at the College of Education at CSU, all my professors were doctors and we called them each 'Dr. So and so.' They made sure we knew where the term doctor came from and what it represents.

Yeah, I've since read something along the lines about what you are saying. Meh, like I said, I wasn't tweaked about it, just found it odd, but if it's an old time thing and was around a long time I suppose who am I so say otherwise.

I've just gone down one heck of a weird rabbit hole.

I had a friend on Facebook mention a movie called, "The Wizard of Speed and Time" and it touched a barely-memory deep inside my brain somewhere. I think I must have been a little kid the last time I encountered anything about this. But there was some trace recollection in there someplace. So I Googled it, like ya do.

Oh my word. I watched the whole thing and now I have a headache from all of the high speed stop motion in this thing. But it's a scathing reprimand against the Hollywood film industry, made in the 80's, with over 1,000 "subliminal messages," countless quick little references to obscure things, relative unknowns playing big name film stars in ways that are just deniable enough to keep anyone from being sued, a couple of blink-and-miss-it BDSM references, all wrapped up in a fairly cute story of the little guy making magic and getting the girl.

The original short was aired as part of an episode of "The Wonderful World of Disney." Maybe that's where I saw it as a child. I still can't place it clearly in my mind, but I'm 100% sure I saw it before, in some context.

Anyone else ever encounter something and have that freaky moment of, "Oh my god, that's a thing that exists, and I'd forgotten all about it!" It feels like when you go through a box you've had in storage and rediscover belongings you forgot you had...only in this case, it's memories stashed away in dusty corners of one's brain. Songs get me like that too, now and then.

Facebook is turning into a nanny state. My friends have gotten bans for really petty reasons the last few weeks. Facebook muted a video I took when there was an arrest I wanted to document in Charlotte to protect the arrestee. The reason they gave was I used a copyrighted song called Siren something in my video. The only problem is that the siren sound came from actual Charlotte police sirens. I’m seriously going to research investing into potential Facebook challengers because people will get sick of this really fast.

I dumped FaceBook about 6 years ago and haven’t looked back. CD is about the extent of my
“Social Media”. I kind of get the appeal, but it’s just not for me.

People of all political stripes have been complaining about FB and how it's rules are applied, this even more so with Twitter.

I only really use FB just to keep up with people I know. I'm not on there all that much.

I was on Twitter for like 15 minutes a long time ago but I found it to be far far too toxic. CD can be toxic at times but twitter is a downright filthy cesspool in a whole lot of ways.
