Whether or not she is getting treated for her ED, would it make her "damaged" goods?
It would mean she had a medical condition that needs attention. Some people have medical conditions. Calling someone "damaged goods" is immature, And wrong. People are not "goods", Even if in the eyes of others their past or present health is too much for one to handle. Jeez!

Just really cruel and insensitive.
To your question, it would be very difficult to date someone, a BOY or a GIRL, with any kind of diagnosed emotional/mental disorder.
You're the one buying BS if you think eating disorders are caused by the media.
I know/knew people with eating disorders. They had a poor body image and low self-esteem because they couldn't meet the ideals that are portrayed in the media.
[however, you're right that the media doesn't directly cause it - it is their response to the media that causes it]
