My lead footed husband got a speeding ticket yesterday. He's supposed to go to court in Chapel Hill. Does anyone know where the courthouse is?
I hate to even tell you this...he was doing 72 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer told him to go to court and speak to one of the attorneys there. This is his first (and better be his last) ticket in NC, so we're not sure what to expect.
Yes, I'm furious...and yes, Lead Foot promised me he'll do 45 from now on.
The officer said there would be an attorney there at the court.
That's the county attorney. You'll want your own to handle it and negotiate with the county attorney. Your husband can go himself and try to work it out himself, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Here's a stupid question. But do you know where we could find an attorney? Is this something we would just go thru the yellow pages for??
I went to traffic court in Chapel Hill a year+ ago (so things might have changed.) I actually thought it would be in Hillsborough and went there first. Luckily I had left plenty of time, as I ended up being redirected to downtown Chapel Hill. It was on Franklin Street in a brick building just at the east end of the downtown. There is a public parking garage on the street just behind it. I wish I could give you better directions, but that's all I remember.
Tell your husband to get there early. It is first come, first served. When I was there, everyone arrived about 10 minutes before the listed time and the line went from being short to very long in a matter of minutes. Getting there 25 minutes early can end up saving you a couple hours.
