I have a possible job offer in Durham. When I mapquested, distance was just under 50 miles and 57 minutes driving time. Does anyone know any shortcuts from Riverwood to lessen this travel time? Thank you in advance. Jeannie

That's going to be a tough drive, without much help as far as shortcuts go. What time of day will you be commuting?

Probably have to be there at 7:00 a.m. and finishing at 7:30 pm. I wanted to keep my commute under 45 minutes.

Where in Durham, Jeannie? Dh travels to RTP in Durham and it takes him 40 to 50 minutes depending on how fast he drives. Lately, its slower (and he's getting about 4 more miles to the gallon going slower) and its taking him about 47min. He goes up to 64/264 and takes 440 to the Wade Ave Ext which takes him to 40.

Congrats on the offer and good luck!!!
Lauren

You could do it in 45 minutes with nobody on the road....maybe. My wife commutes 30miles into Raleigh from Riverwood and it takes her almost 40 minutes.

Thank you Lauren. The interview is with Duke. What time does DH leave in the morning? Is that with traffic?

40 minutes I think I could deal with. Its the 60 minute drive I was worried about.

I doubt it would only take you 40 minutes to get to Duke from Riverwood- my guess even on the off hours is a good hour (and probably 10-15 more minutes ) assuming you are travelling close to the speed limit.

I thought that might be the case, and with inclement weather, I'm afraid it may be even longer.

I work at Duke and live in west Cary. My commute is 19.4 miles - it takes me 20-25 minutes in the am, and that is leaving home at 7 am when traffic is light.
