I went to school in PA for a while and I've been to Scranton. I'm not impressed. I'm also not into roasting but here's a top ten list that Cary isn't on but Scranton, PA is. Sorry, but you can keep Scranton.

FWIW, I'm not trying to make anybody seem like a jerk. Some people do a fantastic job of that all by themselves.

WOW this thread is amazing, so many heated opinions that one can't get a clear picture. Cary is a four letter word, just like love and hate. Your perspective, wants, and needs are what will determine whether or not the place is for you.

"If you want to say that Cary creates an environment that attracts the wealthier or more financially stable people and discourages the lower class people from coming in (or even prices them out)"

I'm tired of people being bothered by people who have worked hard to achieve success. People with more money can buy nicer things. That's just life. Socialism isn't here YET.

What a thread!
FWIW, my two cents:
Although Cary is just a temporary place for me, I have to tell you that it has been a wonderful place to come to when we found out our rental home in CT was moldy. We needed a nice, safe, clean house with the square footage and modern conveniences we couldn't find quickly enough in CT, (we had to get out of that house FAST!) and found that here in Cary. We heard wonderful things about Cary, NC so I checked it out on realtor.com and here we are because of the wonderful abundant rental choices. I do miss New England, but the folks here have been absolutely delightful...very friendly and welcoming. They are also quite patient with us Yankees Especially my lawn guy.

It is a very comforting place to hang out for a year ... after being thru the ordeal we have with a moldy house. Everything is here... great shopping, dining, services, friendly neighbors, clean new house rental. If I wasn't a diehard Yankee with New England in my blood, this would be high on the list of places to retire. I have to give Cary a thumbs up! I am also quite impressed with the Town of Cary in how organized they are with handling all this growth. They really deserve a lot of credit! They are light years ahead of the small towns in New England, as much as I love those quaint towns. I am impressed with how clean the town is kept, also, for the numbers here. I think they're doing an excellent job.

I may remember a few of the things here that I would like to see in my New England future home, and recommend them... such as cooking oil curb pickup for recycling, things like that.

So I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Town of and folks of Cary for providing a safe haven for us until we are able to return home.
