Danny's BBQ in RTP is good.

Smithfield's has a good fast food BBQ sandwich.

I don't eat meat, so I rate BBQ joints on the quality of their hushpuppies. And Q Shack wins there, hands down. I hit that place up every time I'm at North Hills. Smithfield's is the worst.

I have gathered from second hand accounts that Allen and Son's BBQ is pretty good. I take people there regularly. Not much in the way of atmosphere, though.

You can't participate if you don't eat meat.

Old Time BBQ is real good. Say hi to Jerry.

Pick up a plate and pile on the pork - TODAY Grilling Guide 2008 - MSNBC.com

On the Today Show this morning they had a BBQ cook-off between The Pit in Raleigh and a BBQ joint in Charleston, SC and the judges all voted for the Raleigh BBQ so I am guessing it must be good.

We love the Backyard BBQ Pit, in S. Durham. Its a family owned, hole in the wall, down home, Southern Pit BBQ style place. Sadly, closed weekends.

We also like the Q Shack. However, it features Texas style BBQ. Both good, just different.
