My henbit is also in the yard, but I have Bermuda grass, which goes dormant in the winter. I hose down the entire yard with Roundup in the winter and it kills all weeds without damaging the Bermuda. Unfortunately, it has to be like 60F or 70F for it to be effective and I guess last weekend wasn't enough.

I would wait until night time temps are at least 45, not daytime temps. Allows good translocation. Herbicides like Roundup or Weed B Gone move or translocate to actively growing parts of the plant. Cool temps will slow down herbicide activity in plants and a good rule is that the average daily temp should be 50 for at least 2 days. Don't apply anything if the temps are expected to drop dramatically (like they have now). I do not see a good opportunity to apply a postemergent herbicide in the upcoming week.
Regarding preemergent products, I've split my application since our season is so long here. Not sure i would apply a preemergent now...maybe wait another month or so.

Ton of henbit and dandelions out front.

Out back, it's all violets, and there are dozens and dozens, probably hundreds of pretty purple flowers - gonna mow em down this afternoon
