We are trying to buy a house and would like to get the best public schools for my son. So we are looking at the community around Davis drive. But I found there is a railway passing through Davis drive. Does it affect normal living? How about the house in Gravel Brook court?
our up limit is around 30,0000 and want a house built within 6years.
If you know Cary well, please recommend good communities to me. Thank you in advance.

I'd be more concerned with backing right up to Davis Drive.

That said, the train can be heard all over much of Cary. It's loud sometimes. Dunno how it directly affects Stonewater, though.

I live by High Houe and Davis and sometime here a train whistle in the distance. It is not lous or annoying at all, but again, it is not right in my backyard.

I agree with meh, I would be more inclined to avoid a house that directly backs up to Davis Dr. Gravel Brook Ct is in Stonecrest which is a very nice neighborhood, good location. My only concern is the big cell tower in the middle of the neighborhood.

The train along Davis Drive is not much of a concern in Stonecrest, IMO.
I live on "the other side of the tracks," and our place backs up to the tracks. The train is almost a non-event, very slow and little noise from the horn anymore.
You will likely have more noise from plane traffic overhead.

In Stonecrest, ljd1010 mentions the cell tower and backing to Davis Drive, but you also might consider if it will be difficult to get out of the subdivision entrance onto Davis Drive making a left turn during heavy drive time. Try it at 8:30 in the morning and at 5:30 in the evening.
There is only one access point in and out of the neighborhood.

I agree. We live in the same area. As the crow flies we're prob about a 1/3rd mile from the track and 3/4 mile the Davis/Salem Church crossing where they train blows its horn. We're also about 3/4 mile from the SW Cary Pkwy/Old Apex crossing. It really is a non-issue.

I think the fact that that home backs up to Davis is why it hasn't sold. My wife and I went to an open house for the other one (built in 04) next door. Very nice home, really liked it but passed on it since it backed up to davis (Davis is only two lanes at that point, I imagine they will expand it someday).
