I wanted to share my experience with you all on my visit to Raleigh last week......
Raleigh is beautiful and we enjoy the time spent there. We went to North Hills Mall, the museum of science, frankies fun park, Crabtree Valley Mall and drove by some neighborhoods areas as well. We enjoyed every minute of it

We also went to SouthPoint Mall in Durham. The traveling was not the greatest since we spend more time on the road and only spend two whole days in Raleigh which was Thursday (friday we drove down to Charlotte, returning Sunday) and Monday (since we flew back home on Tuesday morning). We found Charlotte be a bit more of a city feel (which we enjoyed).
A car is a plus in both Raleigh and Charlotte to get around places.
As far as neighborhoods I was looking for good walkable area, near a good school, shopping or grocery stores but safe as well. We drove through North Hills Drive and it was nice but not very walkable to places. We also drove by the city center, Hillsborough Street area and found it walkable but according to the Neighborhood Scout website, these areas are not safe. I would like to hear some input from people familiar with this area since sometimes we can't go by some statistic so any info on these area would be appreciated.
Right now we're leaning a bit more on Charlotte but would like to visit a few more times on both cities before finalizing my decision. My plan is to move by August of next year (2012) so hopefully I would plan my next visit early fall.
Both places have their beauty and are unique in their own ways
Again, thank you all for all your helpful suggestion on things to see and do during my vacation. Suggestion on other walkable safe neighborhoods is also appreciated
