I'm looking for a suggestion for an Ameritas-network (Duke's dental insurer) general dentist in the Cary/SW Durham area. This is for me, my spouse, and two children. Recommendations appreciated--here or via DM.
Many dentists recognise this insurer. I'd focus on finding the right dentist in the right location. Can't you file for reimbursement if they don't accept it? I used to have this coverage but can't recall.
We like our dentist very much - Dr. H.T. Macon Sapp in SW Durham on Shannon Rd near the newly renovated SW library branch. Their website is durhamdentist dot com - it is just him and his father. My husband and I have seen him for about 10 yrs, and we both have the Ameritas (Duke) dental insurance. We do pay at the appointment out of pocket, but the practice files the claim for us, and we receive our check from Ameritas in the mail usually within a week following the appt. He does see children at the practice, but our kids are very young, so I have had them at a pediatric dentist. We'll probably switch them to Dr. Sapp when they're older.
I appreciate the responses so far... but was trying to save money with an in-network provider. From what I can tell, most of you don't feel that staying in-network is that helpful for dental, right?
