Gotta love fishing and football in the same Sunday. Was real good to run the boat after 5 weeks of it sitting on the lift.

It's a tough recovery but thanks for asking this was not a typical aerthoscopic thing...mine was an open shoulder procedure with multiple bone and joint cuts.

Just cruising the canal was therapeutic for me. Really had high hopes for a snook or two.

I am missing the fishing reports!!!

I have read some of you have Mayan Cichlids in your canals. I have not seen any in ours (PGI Birdland).

Found this interesting articles in Waterlife magazine. See page 12: "A Mayan Invasion"
http://wlf.eed.sunnewspapers.net/oli...ine_swflorida/

I communicated with the articles author, Capt. Betty Staugler. She replied:

There are lots of places to catch Mayans. Just about any retention pond in the County should have them. I would probably give South County Park a try. You can also fish for them at the Alligator Creek dam on Taylor Rd. I suspect Harbor Heights Park supports some as well. They like to hang out under and around docks and other structure. Behind my house the Mayans have been hanging out with the striped mojarra.

FYI: In the article she mentions seeing them in the ditch along the Linear Park Trail in PG. I asked and she checked and confirmed fishing is allowed here.

We are down next for Thanksgiving week. I am looking forward to helping thin the population of this invasive species. Sounds like poor mans grey (mangrove) snapper.

Default Where are all the Red reports?

I'm looking also. MA is on the temp. disabled list, WPC must be on vacation, and the other locals must have engine trouble, lol . Us snowbirds will be arriving soon and hopefully can contribute.
