They are probably snook. You can feed them live shrimp, but there is no need as they are feeding on the small baitfish that are attracted to the light. Your light is basically feeding them.

If you want to attract big fish during the day, feed the small fish. I don't like cat/dog food because only the crabs eat it usually. It also swells up and floats down the canal making a disgusting mess wherever it ends up. Try cornmeal or bulk fish food from a feed store.

The photo was taken early in the evening and only a few days after the light was installed.

The first two days there were a lot of cat fish and then as the snook and tarpon moved in the catfish seem to mostly disappear. When I go out and look at the light after a few hours of running there are about 15 good sized fish out there, I assume the population will only continue to grow over time.

I purchased the light at http://http://underwaterfishlight.com/

They are located on Veterans Blvd in Pt Charlotte and the price is lower if you purchase at the store VS online

Went out as tide was coming in and had good water in the Pellam, Countryman canals 3, 4, feet but as I was getting to the harbor chanell by the mangroves the depth changed drastically to 2' I turned around and havent tried since is this normal for this time of year or is there a problem going into the harbor?
Thanks

How deep is your transducer? I've never ( or rarely) seen less than 4' in that area, and my transducer is 1' below the waterline...so 5' deep.

The transducer is about the same as yours but it felt like the bottom was dragging I had the motor trimmed up as far as I could There was several feet of shore line visible below the mangrove so I thought I was in trouble maybe I'm just not used to conditions but it still was 2 feet shallower than the canal am I just over cautious?

Probably. I'm on the Countryman and the water depth is pretty normal for this time of year. I'll be going out to the area you are talking about in the next few days and will report back. I've never had to trim my motor up there in any of the many boats I've owned here.

You can't always trust your depthfinder, especially in the dirty water we've had lately. If I'm worried I check the depth with my boat pole or oar.
